Glenda's Creole Kitchen was established August 5, 2000. Glenda's vision developed when co-workers began paying her to bring them a home cooked meal for lunch. She would also bake homemade sweet dough pies, on her days off, to fulfill the sweet tooth cravings of her co-workers. Glenda's close family and friends continued to send words of encouragement and ideas of her opening her own restaurant until she found the perfect place.
Glenda was able to turn a one bedroom shack into a drive-thru restaurant. With the help of her husband and his close friend Clint "Boudin" Charles (may he rest in peace), the restaurant was up and running within one year. Six years later, she was able to expand and add a dine-in area for everyone to experience "Grandma's Kitchen," as stated by many visitors. Glenda's Creole Kitchen is the very first Creole restaurant to open in the city of Breaux Bridge, La. Glenda's is a family owned restaurant which is ran by Glenda, her husband, children, and close relatives. Here, you will be greeted with a welcoming crew and feel right at home.
Throughout this continuing journey, Glenda has appeared on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations ( Travel Channel, 2011) and G. Garvin's Road Trip (Cooking Channel 2012). She was considered to produce "The Gravy of the Gods," as stated by Anthony Bourdain. After G. Garvin took a big bite of her stuffed fried chicken, the only words that came to mind were simply, "Holy Smoke!"
Glenda has won a host of awards including first place for the okra cook off for three consecutive years, first place for the okra gumbo, and first place for her homemade sweet potato pies! Glenda participates in home cooked meals served out of her restaurant, at weddings, and any event you can think of. There is no job too big, or small, so come on in for great food that is "Finger Lickin' Good!"
